Kate Dalman is a visionary leader and passionate advocate for reforming the culture of dog breeding to improve canine welfare on a systemic level. Drawing from more than two decades of experience as a breeder, she founded Herzog’s Heroes to raise the standard of breeding practices, create accountability within the industry, and ensure fewer dogs ever enter shelters.

Through her leadership, Herzog’s Heroes has launched the Herzog Conscientious Breeder Alliance (HCBA)—a first-of-its-kind certification and educational initiative designed to unite breeders, veterinarians, trainers and the animal welfare community under a shared goal: to “Breed Better, Shelter Less.” The association is helping establish clear, conscientious standards that celebrate transparency, education, and lifelong responsibility for the dogs breeders bring into the world.

Kate’s unique perspective as both a breeder and an advocate gives her uncommon insight into the gaps that exist between intention and impact. Her work bridges those divides—between breeders and shelters, ethics and practicality, compassion and accountability—building a foundation for a more humane, sustainable future for dogs everywhere. Her leadership continues to inspire a growing movement dedicated not just to better breeding, but to better lives for all dogs.
